South African Painting Holidays
Take a peek
The Zulu Kingdom's wilderness or 'Bush' experience include; 2 World heritage sites, Isimangaliso (Greater St Lucia Wetland Park )and The Drakensberg also called uKhahlamba (the Barrier of Spears), cultural villages, ancient battlefields, The Big Five and vast landscapes with no sound from the modern world to be heard...
Wow! Phew! you can't beat that for a great holiday!
Drawing is the honesty of the art…
South Africa has a good collection of these wild areas where you can watch the animals while they go on about their everyday life
Hluhluwe-Umfolozi is the oldest park and one where your wildlife safari will be able to see the BIG 5, but there are plenty of other lovely Parks and Reserves teeming with wildlife just waiting for you. South African Painting Holidays uses a private conservancy.
You have a choice as to how to view the Game;
- A self-guided walking safari trail
- Horseback wildlife safari
- Mountain Bike wildlife safari
- Kayaking Safari
- 4x4 Auto Trails Wildlife Safari
- Guided walk wildlife safari and the most popular
- Guided open vehicle wildlife safari
As there are many Rangers who are well versed with life in the bush and can add so much to a game viewing trip I always prefer to go with a professional whenever I can as they always tell you something more than you already know, often interspersed with their own interesting anecdotes, so, whether you want to view game from a vehicle, bicycle, canoe, horse or take a walk, I suggest doing it with a professional, they know where the animals are hiding out and can tell you about interesting animal incidents in their area.
The countryside hasn’t changed much in this area from the days of King Shaka so savour the whole bush atmosphere and become totally absorbed in the animal world. The perfect place for a wildlife artist.
With luck you will find these animals and go home with plenty of sketches to keep you painting for years to come: White and Black Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, a variety of Antelope and of course the predators which include Lion, Leopard, and the Spotted and Brown hyenas.
