Day 1:
London - JohannesburgDepart London Heathrow on Virgin Atlantic for your overnight flight to Johannesburg.

Day 2:
Johannesburg - DrakensbergOn arrival, you will be met and given your detailed driving directions for your tour. Set off southwards, passing through the rolling plains of the Free State, before you reach the spectacular escarpment overlooking the province of KwaZulu Natal. Dinner and overnight at Montusi Mountain Lodge. (D)

Day 3:
DrakensbergThe day is yours to enjoy the alpine atmosphere of this region. The nearby Royal Natal National Park is set deep in the mountains with a number of well-marked trails that bypass streams, waterfalls and some spectacular cliff faces. The reserve is also well stocked with mountain game. Dinner and overnight at Montusi Mountain Lodge. (B/D)

Day 4:
DrakensbergAt leisure to relax and explore. There is a wide range of activities on offer at Montusi Mountain Lodge including mountain biking, guided walks and trout fishing. (B/D)

Day 5:
Drakensberg - BattlefieldsAfter breakfast, head into the interior of KwaZulu Natal, a route that takes you through the towns of Ladysmith and Dundee. This is the area where, over a century ago, the bloodiest battles in South Africa's history were fought. Dinner and overnight at Isandlwana Lodge or Isibindi. (B/D)

Day 6:
BattlefieldsSpend the day in this historic and scenic area. It is strongly recommended that you sign up with the resident historian at your lodge for an expert journey through the 2 battle sites, at Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. (B/D)

Day 7:
Battlefields - ZululandA leisurely start this morning as you depart the Battlefields area and drive into Zululand. On arrival at Shakaland, you will experience first hand the history of the Zulu people and insight into their culture. You will overnight in beehive huts and your dinner this evening will consist of local Zulu specialities. Overnight at Shakaland. (B/D)

Day 8:
ZululandSet off this morning for the safari centre of Hluhluwe. Bordered by the famous Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve and the World Heritage Site of Lake St Lucia, the town is ideally situated to explore this wildlife wilderness. Overnight at Ubizane Tree Lodge or Hluhluwe River Lodge. (B/D)

Day 9:
ZululandThe day is yours to explore this area. You will be able to book optional excursions directly with your lodge, including open-vehicle game drives and bush walks. Dinner and overnight at your lodge. (B/D)

Day 10:
Zululand - ZimbaliDepart this morning and head south. We recommend that you leave the motorway and follow the old coastal route, with beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. Approx 25 miles from the city of Durban, you will check in to your accommodation at Zimbali Lodge. (B)

Day 11:
ZimbaliThere is a huge amount to see and do in the nearby area, including swimming at the Ballito, shopping at Umhlanga Rocks and visiting the port city of Durban for a harbour or dolphin-watching boat cruise. Overnight at Zimbali. (B)

Day 12:
Zimbali - LondonAfter breakfast, drive to Durban airport to catch your flight home (via Johannesburg). (B)
